Partner Spotlight: Common Sense Education

We’re excited to share that CYBER.ORG welcomed Common Sense Education as one of our amazing partners! Together, our goal is to introduce educators to cybersecurity in the classroom and expand access to K-12 cybersecurity nationwide. These partnerships are critical to empowering the next generation of talent and ultimately solving the U.S. cybersecurity workforce gap.

As a nonprofit organization, Common Sense Education supports K-12 schools with everything educators need to empower the next generation of digital citizens. Its Digital Citizenship Curriculum prepares students with lifelong habits and skills, provides free resources and expert advice to schools, supports teachers with training and recognition, and engages families and communities with helpful tips.

In June, our Executive Director Laurie Salvail and Cyber Education Specialist Willie Henderson partnered with Common Sense Education to host an educator webinar – Cybersecurity Basics: What Every Educator Should Know. The webinar provided an overview of ready-to-use lessons and resources to empower K-12 students on how to protect themselves online.

CYBER.ORG also provided supplemental resources to the Digital Citizenship Curriculum around privacy and security, and developed a Teachers’ Essential Guide to Cybersecurity, which provided an overview of cybersecurity basics and how cybersecurity is different from online privacy, steps they can take in the classroom to protect their students, and more.

This past year marked an exciting milestone for our work with Common Sense Education. These types of collaborations are essential to advancing K-12 cybersecurity literacy and helping students thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Common Sense Education’s collaboration with CYBER.ORG was made possible with the generous support of Craig Newmark Philanthropies.
